Does anyone else hear this on their 'L'?

6 posts in this topic

It's a 1994 'L'. I bought it earlier this summer. When pushing the bike across the garage floor or the driveway, I can hear a sharp clicking coming from the mid to rear of the bike. The knobby rolling on the pavement is causing something to click, like it's loose or something. Very easy to hear, but I simply can't figure out what it is. I thought it was the top shock bushing. It had some play in it. I replaced both the top and the bottom and it's still there. It sure sounds like something with the shock. Is there a shim stack or valve or something inside the shock that might click as it just barely moves? If there's any weight on the seat, the noise stops. I really don't think anything is wrong, but it drives me nuts that I can't figure out what it its.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I heard that on my yz once and found a nice nail stuck in a knobby...thus the clicking sound.

Check the chain, pull wheel and check inside hub. Also check for swingarm play, shock.

Kinda like finding a needle in haystack sometimes with wierd one-off sounds.

I have a clicking on mine as well. On mine it is the chain falling on the top slider. It goes away when under power.

Thanks for the suggestions! I haven't checked the chain, I was so convinced it was the shock, I'll do that next, I'll bet that's it.
