426 on maintainance

3 posts in this topic

this might be a really stupid question but i am new to competition bikes and i want to get a 426. Do they need as much maintainance as the yzf250 and crf250? I am only going to do light trail riding with it anyways but i still want the power because i am getting bored with my crf230. Thanks.

Extremely reliable, chaing the oil and filter every 2 rides, clean the air filter, and grease everything up. If your looking at one now, you will want to ask if the top end has been rebuilt, even though they don't need it, it will lose performance with out it.

With proper maintenance the 426 is a bulletproof bike. Keep the oil changed and the air filter clean, check the valve clearance occasionally and it will run forever.
