18 posts in this topic

My friend mentioned supertrap?

Is that a good one, i have no idea what to get.

My bike is all stock.

Looking for maybe lighter weight and more power..and a more aggresive sound..

Ideas!

I am happy with my XRs only complete system. You can go with just the slip on style that will just replace your muffler section that will give you good all around performance. The suppertrapp type systems are very good and allow you to tune it as you change mods to the bike.

well...let me confuse you even more...LOL!

Here's a pic of mine:

XR's Only

I love it! I think it cost 240 shipped. the pipe also comes with a main jet that's matched up to that pipe/bike (sorry, cant remember the size). I'm using it (the main), and its working good...but it seems to be a tad rich.

Yeah 06 with 2300 miles. It was just a little louder until you crack into her then shes a real nice low roar! To me she did add some power it was real easy to pull the front wheel off the groung even in 2nd. I just really was glad to get rid of that ugly black heavy monster that was on it!

The Wileyco's you don't see often. They are mainly used on road bikes. I was extremely satisfied especially after paying only $100.00!

You should remove the picture with your license plate number or at least blur out the numbers.

XRs only with stock header and exhaust wrap. loud but good. paired it with the mikuni flatslide and it rips. thought about getting the xrs only baffle, but im used to the power and noise now. i have the supertrap on my xr400 and i really like it, even though it is dated tech.

Justicedone,

I really like the looks of your bike! Mine is an '06 also, and I was actually kind of modeling my ideas around yours! I have no luck finding an E-Series though! Someone posted a short cut for "MotoJoe" or something, but after I placed my order, they called me and said that White Bros. has discontinued them for the "L". You said you found yours on E-bay? Was it used or what?

The XR650L needs several things changed to open it up: Header, Muffler, rejetting or new carb and air filter.

I owned a 2002 XR650L and rejetted it with the Dyno Jet Kit, more free flowing air filter and drilled out the stock baffle in the stock muffler.

All this needs to be balanced (air intake, muffler and fuel) so the bike will run well at different altitudes. Where I live, I can go for a ride from my house at 200 ft. above sea level to over 10,000 ft in the same ride.

One of the things I didn't like about the way I had my XR650L set up was that with the stock carb, I couldn't get the jetting dialed in to handle that kind of variation in altitude. My 2005 WR450F with the stock carb runs great on rides like this.

I would like to know the model number of the Mikuni Carb you bought and what your jets are set at as I am thinking about getting another XR650L. Thanks.
