Anybody got a pic of a wr with black plastic ? I'm thinking of going with black on my wr, and am wondering how it would look.

They look good except for the blue frame.

Another reason why alloy frame better!

Stranglers...which Acerbis handguards are those? They look great and are low profile yet still sturdy. Do you like them? I've been looking at which handguards I want to add to my bike.

they're the Acerbis Rally Pro handguards and you can have them either low profile (as mine) or add on a spoiler (clips on i think) for extra wind/bush protection. This is my 2nd set, to go with the Black n Yellow theme and i have to say they are very strong and sturdy and a doddle to fit, bear in mind, if your using Fatbars/pro tapers etc, then you will have to buy the oversized mounting kit extra as they only come with the std brackets for std size bars. it worked out pretty expensive but IMO i reckon they're the best around, but probably the most expensive too...

here's a link to them, and a great dealer i must add, i got a lot of bits from these guys, superb service too.

Stanglersfan, I don't think there's a problem with the link I've looked at plenty posted here. But if a WR could be described as sexy, your's would qualify. Nice job.

where did you get the black side number plates?? are they YZ plates?? Did you have to mod them?

i've been looking for blue or black ones, but can only find white ones for my 05.

The "Beast" pictured is a pre 03 model which has very different shaped plastics to the 03-05 bikes especially the tank/rad shrouds/side panels.

I have the 03-05 YZF Airbox/rear subframe/seat/tank and plastics on my 02 WR frame which are available at many stores but if your 05 is a WR then i'm not too sure if there are alternative coloured side-panels as the WR airbox is different to the YZ one as it has side access, whereas to maintain the filter on the YZ it's a seat removal process. Maybe the latter WR owners may be of assistance here or contact Acerbis direct for any info :ride:

update: after looking at pics of the 05 WR and YZ's i am pretty sure the panels are the same apart from the extra plastic piece that is on the left side of the airbox, therefore you should be able to fit YZF ones no probs and paint the piece that sits on the airbox a matching colour? again, this is just a guess as without seeing both bikes side by side i cannot guarantee that they have the exact same mounting points but i wouldn't imagine yamaha would design 2 completely different panels for the same year bike, as afterall, it looks like the inclusion of the side-entry to the airbox was an after thought. The thing that bugs me by this access to the filter included on the WR is why was it not added to the YZF as surely this was the model most intended for competition use when quick access to the filter was needed more, between races etc? obviously the WR is intended for Enduro Competitions etc equally demanding easy access, so why not make both have quick access? all i can assume is it is to save weight? like 4 ounces? wow! then again, there has to be differences between the bikes otherwise we'll end up with a long ratio YZF with lights and a short ratio YZF without :ride: look at the 07's for example, it's looking like they're very similar apart from what i've said above plus elecky start:ride: which for me, is a good thing, the more raw power the better!!!! and the beauty is, it's road legal  obviously the weight savings on the 07 YZ are quite substantial, almost 26lbs because of the lack of elecky start/stand/smaller tank etc, but how come the 07 YZF has a 19" rear wheel and the WR has an 18"? maybe the gear ratios ARE very different between the 2 and Yamaha needed to lengthen the powerband of the YZ and make it less "revvy" (no info of the WR's ratios on their website?)

sorry to "go off on one" but hope some of that waffle is of use to you

I got them here at the TT store. They are for a YZ and have a mark and text showing where to trim them for a WR, where the recovery bottle goes.
