XR 600 cutting out

4 posts in this topic

I have a 98 XR 600 which is constantly dying on me. Usually this occurs when cracking the throttle open, say to overtake something, the only way to bring it back to life is to shut off the gas, then it fires back up again. If this happens at slow speeds, it will not start for at least a dozen kicks ( could be flooded) any help much appreciated!

Sounds like your float is letting too much fuel into the bowl. Check the float specs on your carb, I'll bet it needs to be lowered... Good luck.

Lots of Gas, but it also sounds like a too big main jet. Sounds like it will run on the idle jet, but gets swamped beyond a 1/4 turn.
