Miles for tank full on stock WR450

23 posts in this topic

Just found a great new riding area. How many miles can a guy get on a tank tank of gas - with a good amount of throttle?

:applause:

well my 04 has a slightly bigger tank than you do..dependent on jetting, i would start being careful around 60-75 miles.

I've done 70 on my stock tank. I was really nervous coming back but never had a sputter.

Fox , I live in Quilcene, WA - we've got many firetrails that go on forever. I was referring to Squim, WA where there is a DNR trail area that I'm just waiting to try.

If you ever in the area.....

I get close to 40 mpg, or about 100 miles, on my 03 WR450, but other years are getting about half that. :applause:

If your 05' has the same size tank as the 06', I think like 2.1 gallons, you'll hit reserve @ about 42 miles.

I got 120km on my stock 8 litre tank before hitting reserve on average driving, under harder driving I got 100 and very hard driving got as low as 86km. All depends on how you drive forsure......

Dirtbike said the stocker was only good for about 41 miles. Either they flogged the crap out of it or they are full of shit

I don't know exactly how far I can go but I ride hard and I can barely hear gas when I shake the bike after 35 miles. I know in 45 miles I have burnt about a tank and a 1/4 - 1/3. I don't really keep up with it. I ride in the woods and a loop is a little over 5 miles on the main trail and I just go back to the truck and filler back up when its low.

I got about 40 miles to a tank up in Big Bear.....the bike is free-modded, plus the PMB insert, JD kit, and UNI.... with lots of hard riding;..... pretty crappy if you ask me. Looks like I might have to consider the Acerbis or the Safari 4 gal. Any opinions on either?

I've gone 45 miles. There wasn't much left in the stock tank. Hopefully soon I will be able to purchase the Acerbis tank.

I have an 06 and did the free mods on it. I ride hard, lots of hill climbing. I know I can get 60 miles. I have never used the reserve.

maybe youre using reserve instead of on, hehe ( i had a buddy do this by mistake, found out the hard way when he ran out of gas, reserve didn't work as he was already there and never knew it)

My stock tank on my 426 is 2.1 gallons like the newer WR's are. I was able to go 40-45 miles on it (no reserve) riding single track in Michigan. I use to carry a 2 quart enduro jug on the cross bar as reserve, which gave me another 10 to 15 miles. :excuseme:

I now use the Ty Davis racing tank which is 3.1 gallons and I don't carry an enduro jug.

When I get a new WR I will be putting a bigger tank on it also. :bonk:

You have to be careful.... One day you will get 60+...another day you will get 45...depends on alot of things. I found this out the hard way :excuseme:

The best thing to do is not push the limits unless you have a back-up plan..

40-60 stock tank

Ascerbis tank I've ran out at 78 miles but have rode as far as 110 :bonk:

I am positive the reserve is not on. According to my odom. I have gone 60 miles before I filled up. I'm tring to figure out how far I can go until I run out. I push the bike hard most of the time.
