Oil cooler on my XR650L

14 posts in this topic

I got the idea from another xr650l owner and went with it. I just finnished it last night and ran it but have not put it all back together for a ride. There were no leaks and i could feel the cooler getting warm so i know oil was going through. I can't wait to take it for a ride to see what the temps are like.

Looks great. :applause: Is that the same oil cooler as on the XR400? It sure looks the same. Where did you get it and the hoses? How much ($$) did it run and how much time did it take to install?

Thanks

Thanks for the replys... Yes it is a xr400 oil cooler. I still need to ride it and see if it is enough to keep the bike cool.

I'm in redondo beach...

Xrkyle,

Did you just bolt the cooler straight into the frame? Could you post a picture of how it is mounted? Please. Or you can email it to me directly... houk27@yahoo.com Thanks, Tony

Hey touky how are those CRF forks on your XR? I am about to do that and wondered who they feel?

Rm,

I am not the best judge on the ability of the forks. I did them because I thought it would be cool to do. I just blew my head gasket so I have to rebuild my engine. The 680 does kick butt though. Doing the switch was not hard. Buy the forks and the wheel /axle combo and you should be good. The xr master cylinder bolts right up. You do need to make a sleeve for the xr stem so that after you transfer it to the crf triple clamp it will be tight. The crf stem is too big. If you have any more questions just ask. Tony

What i did was weld a nut on each side of the frame. I don't have a picture of that.
