Mate says wr450 will eat the piggie?

this is great! another "my bike can beat up your bike" thread.

what better is there to do at work than watch people get all frothy about comparing apples to blueberries?

where's the popcorn?

Who will win?

Drag: 650r

Extremely tight trails: 450

Light trails: depends

Wide open country: 650r

Looks: 450

Gas mileage: 450

Hp and torque: 650r

Durability: 650r

I agree with the exception of "looks" :ride:

I used to own a BRP. In terms of pure speed it sure felt faster than my WR. Now, at 950 miles, I am spending $1000 to repair the WR that decided to drop a valve and tear up my head and piston. Should have kept the XR.

I reckon an xr650r looks way better than an old style steel frame wr450.

Looks modern even if it ain't.

Any stretch of not too bumpy straight an xr will hose a wr.

The XR's have to be the uglyiest bike ever made.

Enough of that talk now sonny.

It's just a matter of opinion Renthal.

mine matters and yours doesn't.

sorry to hear that, no matter how much i despise the blue its sad to hear a rider is out of action due to bike failure, oh and renthal call the xr ugly in an xr forum and expect to be lynched

The way I see it, this is how things compare...

*Tight bush riding or enduro style riding- WR450 wins

*Desert/Highspeed riding- XR650R wins

*Looks- for certain, this comes down to PERSONAL OPINION!

*Reliability- XR650R wins for sure

*Straight Drag (the whole point of the original question in this thread) XR650R wins- but only on superior low rpm hp/torque than an outright horsepower advantage

*Flavour of the month award- This easily goes to the WR450, seeing that it has topped Australian registered bike sales for 3 years.

Sorry for my personal opinion :ride::banana:

Strange you don't see a lot of registered road going WR's getting around especially here[brisbane]. KTM's seem to be the in thing. On ride days though they're very popular. How does the 450 compare on paper to the pig?

It Doesnt compare.

I'm not one to ride other peoples bikes so i won't be testing this. My mate runs an enduro club and after having a few beers we were talking about bikes. In short he said a WR450 would eat a 650r. I said it may be lighter but i don't think there's much out there that would eat my piggie. He kept on about it but i just left it there. Any takers?

depends on the rider

Come to think of it...I like to eat piggys. Mmmmmmm pulled pork sammich. :ride:

HONDA RULES - YAMAHA DROOLS, you know why they call em Yamaha's don't ya? the factory engineers are still laughing at anyone who would buy one! Yama ha-ha-ha.....

In actuality - seriously - the Yammerhammer is probably better in the da woods and BIG RED better in the open, of course add a rider like say Scott Summers - and it just don't matter the pro's make em all "dance"...

I dont think the bike matters near as much as the rider does. Take any pro rider over the age of say... 10, put them on any bike that actually runs & rolls...

...then get the best factory works screaming demon bump flattening bike you can find. Set me on it so i can race them, and i'll show you just how wonderfully i can crash that pretty dream bike. :ride:

I dont think the bike matters near as much as the rider does.
Absolutely. While a bike might excel at one type of terrain or another...the rider always accounts for more.

No doubt a WR250 can "eat" the WR450 too! Might taste a little "plasticky" though? :ride:

Talking about ugly bikes, I think those steel framed yz250f are ugly. Ride it for a month and the paint is wore off the frame. Sorry renthal1 thats just my personal opinion. why are you on this fourm if you hate the bike?

finally the WORD of truth!!!

Unless some other dumflock aussie starts raving about his XR650 and how modern looking and designed it is. (spare me, it's the equivalent of saying Kiss are back in vogue.)

AS you said XR6 - looks are subjective but that's all put to bed when you talk ergos.

Ergos - 650 is 6 feet under.
