Dual Sport Insurance?

here in BC i pay about $220ish a month for my wr450, stupid insurance classes here. i'm grouped into the 401cc-750cc class. i pay more for my wr450 than i did for my older ZX6E, just because of the declared value. bastards....

I called my local Farmers agent (I have lots of stuff insured with them) Liability for 6 mos. is about $100.00 with higher than normal liability i think it is $100.000.oo and $300,000.00 limits. Maybee I should look around.

Question, I just got my 06WR450 which I used a Yamaha card to finance. Anyone know whether that card company requires you to have full insurance on the bike? Collision is what killed me on my XR as Honda Finance corp wanted full ins on it. Collision was $567/year alone. Before I go out and get a yellow plate I may just insure it and register it for the road.

I had financed mine through the dealer (05 wr450), and the loan paperwork never called for me to have any insurance on the bike (assuming because its classified as an off-road only vehicle).

Well, I did the work to street legalize my bike, got it inspected, and took my paperwork, and certificate of origin to the BMV. At the BMV, the lady was forced to put down LIEN on the bike, because the Cert. of origin had it written on it by the dealer.

My insurance company knew I had a lien on it, that it was a brand new bike, and it was street legal. It only cost me $110 a year for full coverage, with $500 comp and collis deductable.

This was through Allstate. I do remember though that it was considerably more if it wasn't street legal.

I just got off the phone with Wawanesa, AAA, and Progressive. Wawanesa doesn't do motorcycles. AAA wants $469 for full coverage, and Progressive wants $778 for less than full. I told AAA thats more exspensive than 2 of our 3 cars, and Progressive that they are more expensive than all 3. I have a clean driving record with no accidents and haven't had a ticket since about 1990.

I know- 2 posts in a row... :ride:

This is what I got as a quote for $255.00 from BikelinE.

What do you think?

Taking off the collision subtracted only 6 bucks.

i have the gecko. 227.00 dollars for a year. just liability though.

XT 350 DS-28 yrs old, clean record, $46/yr Progressive

I found the least expensive route was to add my WR to an existing street bike policy. cost me $15 extra for the year for liability only for the WR.

AAA is $85 a year for my XR600 comp no coll. 15/30, 1000 mi. a year and it says it is a "Off-road motorcycle" on my policy.
