Assembling transmission...

The manual says "spin the shafts and turn the shift drum by hand to check operation"...

For those of you that have been through this, have you really been able to turn the drum by hand and shift through all the gears? I can hardly turn it at all... it just seems like there's not enough leverage.

I too was not able to spin by hand but I was careful all three times have fixed gearbox and it worked once together - at least for a while but that is a different story.

What I do before I put the "ratchet" assembly into the end of the shift drum, I use a 12mm T-handle to operate the shift drum while I spin the trans. Works for me! Tdub

I test by gettign a second person and hook up my cordless drill with a socket and have the person go at a slow speed while I shift and check that all is workign as it should
