So is resale on yz450's impossible or what?

If you wanna sell one you gotta be willing to just about give it away.

I had my '07 for sale for 9 months, and I thought I was pretty lucky to get $4k out of it earlier this year.

I traded my 00 426 in January 06 straight across for a snowmobile, both were about of equal value (around $3k at the time). I wouldn't let my 06 go for less than $4k right now, and I'd be dang lucky to get that even though it's nearly spotless with only 35 or so hours on it.

Sorry, a little off topic for a friggin old thread but.......

35 hrs on a 06? Are you serious? Im past that on my 08 now and Ive had mine for 8 months! (I still dont ride enough yet, once a week if I can, or even twice if the wife is really happy with me):busted:

FWIW, a buddy of mine just sold his nice '07, that was LOADED for woods, for $3700.

Cowboy, you need to go riding more!! I've had my 09 since the last week of May this year and have 45 hours on the bike.

Stop reading. Stop writing. Go riding.

Yeah... that's not a typo. Bought the bike new in spring 06, moved to my wife's home town and didn't know anyone else that rode. Moved again spring 07 to SE OR where, again, I didn't know anyone that rode. Moved yet again fall of 08, and at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I didn't know anyone up here that rode (although I'm starting to make a few riding buddies now).

Couple that with the fact that the past few years have been spent trying to raise kids and stay ahead of the game after graduating college with a master's degree, and the 06 has been too much of a garage queen. Its gone a hell of a lot of miles and hours in the back of my truck though!

35hrs on a 06...it is just getting broke in :busted:

this may help resale slightly but not for 4k.....

We are having a hard time selling any of our bikes! It's not that they are junk,I cant even get anyone to come look at them! These are nice bikes with lots of aftermarket stuff! 07 yz450=3400.00 08 yz450=3800.00 just seems like EVERYBODY is hanging on to what money they have,I know I am!

How about a 08 yz85 for 1500.00 and it is loaded or a 09 yz85 for 1800.00 loaded as well! Or a o6 yz supermini 105 big wheel with the longer swing arm from yamaha and a lot more for 2000.00 I write all of this not to try to sell here but to let riders know what ir takes to sell bikes here in the southeast!

I did just sell a 08 wr250 for 3750.00 and was glad to get it!!

I'm not planning on selling it, but if I were to that would be my asking price. And as you have pointed out, even though the bike is exceptionally clean and well cared for, I'd be dang lucky to get it.

I sold my '06 last fall for $2,995. Tried selling it for $3,500, then $3,200 and didn't even get a bite.

I put my decked out 04 on Craigslist for $2500 it has $6,000 in mods on it and didn't get a single call. I am gonna strip it down and take whatever I can get for it this spring.

I also have a modded out 03 and 06 with more $$$ than sense tied up in them.

it makes no since today to spend $$$ modding out as even the aftermkt adds zero to the resale...

you are better off removing all the aftermkt mods and selling them separately, then sell the bike as close to stock to get rid of it

or do like me, I don't race anymore so I figured I would forget about selling them and just ride them when you want or can.

Ya I am redoing the topend on it everything else is in great shape on the bike gonna keep it for riding MX(practice days) and buy an enduro for trail riding, I must be getting old. . .

i agree ride'm when you want, collect 'em like the misses collects shoes or purses. we all need a fetish right? then sell them when they are considered "Vintage" and all you can control is the newest hover-round electric wheel chair.

i guess that's one way to get what they are worth. it sure is nice to walk out to the barn and look at the collection even if you cant ride. still makes my blood pump on a shitty day.

Yeah we are all in the same boat, never time to ride and when you finally do there is noone to go with. Almost takes a life reevaluation, thats what I had to do. The way I figure it though is that our kids are going to be the most reliable riding partners,at least you KNOW when their going to be around. Good for you about chasing your education too.:busted:

I've contemplated selling out several times but I can't bring myself to do it... been riding since I was 4. Yes, I'm slow and I ride like crap, but at least when I do get to go I try to have a good time.

You know... I'm not too far from BC if you ever need someone to ride with

No because I'm way over on the east side north of Spoko. But I know a fella that heads that way once in a while (r4sbergxr600r) and maybe I can sneak over there with him one of these days.

Man, you move around... Where you at near Spokaloo now?

LOL you've noticed that? :busted: Might be another move coming up soon too...

Anywho I live in Newport, about 1 hour north of Spokaloo. Batey Bould and LPO are both real close to here.

I'm seeing lots of '06s for 3500-4000 and '07 for 4500. Def a buyer's market.
