Brake light actuator

8 posts in this topic

Finally, the proud owner of an '06 WR450, picked it up last weekend, still working on the usual new bike stuff, removing all unnecessary ugly warning decals, grey wire, throttle stop,etc.... My question is, does any one know which wire harness i need to use to hook up the brake light actuator? I read about a few of you setting up your bikes for the street so who better to ask? Thanks for the input..

This one from fourstrokesonly.com works for the '04 and '05 models (I did my '04) and one would assume it would work for the '06 also:

Part #44-0077

10X1.25 mm fits most (fits nissin plus others master cylinders) japanese models of on - off road motorcycle and atvs. Head of banjo bolt is 14mm, wire length is 20" long with male bullet connectors. Fits: Front and rear master cylinders where clearence allows.

Idaho is very easy to get your bike plated in. Here is a thread that you might find helpful getting your bike set up:

Lots of good info here from guys who have "been there & done that". Congrats on your new purchase!

I just picked up a hydraulic switch from my Yammy dealer for cheap to replace the banjo bolt with. Probably exactly the same as the one mentioned above and ran the wiring to the already-in-place, unused third brake light wire. Works great.

Do you happen to have a part number for the hydraulic switch?

Consider putting the pressure switch on your front brake lever , or both, I find that when I am on the street and stopped at a light my feet are on the ground and the brake light is off, I would like to apply or flash the brake light to approaching traffic, but my right foot is down since my left is usually on the shifter, although I am not on the street much it seems like every time I am cars come up behind me fast and follow to close. Just a thought, I also bought my switch at the local dealer but I am going to move it to the front brake lever. Good luck.
