After Valve shims, PLEASE HELP

It seems like after one does a valve clearance check, and shim replacement, you should run the bike and then re-check clearance and torque on the cams. Is this true? Can anyone confirm? Also how long after the adjust? maybe let it heat up to temp and idle a while?

If you did it right there is no reason to be so paranoid. If you want to be sure, go ahead and run it up to temperature a few times, but it needs to be stone cold when checked.

Just make sure you do it correctly the first time and don't worry about it untill the next time to check it, and always check it cold. If you follow the instructions in the manual you can't go wrong.

If you warm it up the metal will expand and cause your clearences to be tighter, so you should NOT do that. NEVER check the valve clearence when warm. Even just starting it for 2 minutes will throw off the valve clearence. Always check it when cold. I let it cool overnight and check em in the morning.

If you follow your manual, all will be good.
