XR650R vs. DRZ400

I also don't believe it is a fair comparison. The XR has a bigger engine. If Suzuki made a DR650Z then I think it would be a 'torque monster'. The XR is $700 more in price and more than that if you make it street legal. So, there is many ways to break this 'comparison' down.

Yeah.....about that DR650.....they do make one.....not exactly a great dirt bike though, mostly street but not as bad as a klx650.....in between the xr and klr.

You will quickly tire of the DRZ400, not because it will cause you any trouble but just ebcaue you will getr bored with it. Not so the 650R..and there are a million aftermarket parts available if you want to change the 650...

I think people are being a bit harsh on the DR400. I reckon it's a pretty good thing with similar reliability etc to the XR650, just a bit smaller and lighter and less powerfull. There are some mods you can make that certainly give it some extra oomph, such as airbox, cams, and even a 440ish big bore. On an australian DR (with a few changes compared to the rest of the world like a 39mm carb), with cams and big bore it is about the same as a decorked 650 with power in the mid 40s. And it has that magic button. All in all I find them pretty good things

Having said all that I got a 650R myself. But it australia we also get a fully road legal 650R, so being quite tall and heavy I didn't see much downside compared to the DR. Also XRs tend to be about 2000 AU (about 1500US) more expensive here than DRs when new, but are quite cheap 2nd hand. Mine was less than 1/2 the price of new one with about 3000 miles on the clock

Talk to Burned.

I own a cr250r, and a cr500r, and now I'm intrested in the super-moto. I want to buy a xr650r and hook it up. what are all the peaks and tweaks I can do? and where can I get them?

What I ment was the 400 is closer to the typical race bike like a yz450. The 650 has a specific purpose, desert racing. Slap some blue side panels and different braphics on a drz400 and from a distance, ya might mistake it for a YZ. Do the same with a 650 and its still a 650, its just blue.

Disagree....

The 650 R is in NO WAY intended to be just a desert bike. They work awsome in any terrain.

The 400 Suzucky would be superior to the 650 R in only one department......................fuel consumption.

I have to disagree with you there, ive ridden a 400 for about 40-50 miles and I thought it was awesome for the extremely tight stuff, places where the 650R's bulk would prove to render performance.

I don't believe Scott has this bike anymore, but his web site is still there and you may want to check out

Antissmo so a hopped up DRZ is about the same as the xr650 uncorked,as in the same performance,a performance stage that no self respecting xr650r owner wants, uses or keeps ,hmmm.

Dang. I knew I was a loser for leaving my XR650 like that, but I didn't realise I was disrespecting myself. Geez I suck

I know,my bad but hey i stayed away from the torque equation so i gave you something,i'm not a total a'hole.

nyuk nyuk nyuk, hmmmm wise guy huh,why i oughta.
