Ut-Oh...'06YZ450f Could I have hurt something??

3 posts in this topic

I feel like an idiot but here it is...After reading the manual and moving forward with the first oil change it looked to me that the drain plugs were the same picture so I only emptied one..It was the one on the oil fill side and never emptied the other (crank case I think)

Anyway, I checked the Pressure and it looked good checked the oil level which seemed OK. Well I changed the oil again today and this time finally did it right (with the help from fellow TTer's, Thanks) and found I had about 1/3 of a liter more oil than the 1 liter that is spec'd (so 1.3 to 1.4 total liters) in the bike.

Could I have damaged anything from having too much oil in the bike and riding it for the hour I did?

Thanks....

You should be OK but riding for an hour with too much oil wasn't good. Too much oil foams up. I guess the dry sump helped you this time.

I believe the only bad thing about running your bike with too much oil is that you can make some gaskets leak
