What is the stock front tire for a 2000 XR650R?

Curiosity has the best of me. Does anyone know what type of tire they put on the 2000 xr650r stock out of the factory?

80/100-21 is the stock front tire size.

Were they running the Dunlop 739?

Pretty sure it was the 739.

Decent tire BTW. That's what I've been running on my 600.

Best front tire for the 650R is the Pirelli MT18HD, try it you'll like it.

I agree this is a great tire. However, I find pirellis to chunk and tear up the side knobs badly. The pirelli MT-32(new design) is a great tire for offroad. On the road I like the MT-18 HD.

I believe original stock front tire was 80/100-21 Dunlop 739 FA-J.

Tried the MT18 and honestly didn't like it. So far it has only worked great in perfect conditions (damp sticky loam) where virtually any tire would work well. Elsewhere I am dissapointed. It wanders on hardpacked straits, washes out suddenly in turns. In deep sand it either pushes or tucks. Tried a variety of pressures from 12 to 20 psi and still no joy. Wears like iron though. Probly will go back to the 739 which worked well over a WIDE range of conditions (my kinda riding) but wears a little faster.

my '03 had a 80/100/21 Dunlop 739. Rear was a 110/100/18 Dunlop K695. I still run a 739 4-stroke front, and I like the 739 Desert A/T on the rear.

Rider914, man the conditions you described are the majority of my riding. Guess it just boils down to certain tires fit certain styles.Sorry you don't like the Pirelli.

If you want a good DOT aggressive front try the Pirelli Scorpion Pro. You won't be dissapointed.

I really wanted to like it. Heard lotsa good things and the Scorpion A/Ts work well on the nine-five-oh...

... but the MT18 is just not workin for me.

I would say that I could relax more on the 739, it went where I wanted with no sudden surprises. I gotta stay on top of the MT18.

Unfortunately, I bought two MT18s (free shipping). Anybody want one cheap? U pick up.
