hole in my carb??

hey guys I have an 02 426 that was cutting out when I would get on the throttle. It was almost like if I was hitting the rev limiter, but not that drastic. It would idle fine except like I said when I would get on the throttle. I replaced the plug, cleaned the air filter and took the carb apart to clean it. When I took the float chamber cover off I noticed a small hole with jagged edges in the float bowl. How could this have happened? Is this the cause of my problems?

That looks like a casting shift or porosity rather than something that belongs there. Get some carb spray in there and see if it comes out someplace else. If it does, I'm almost certain that it doesn't belong there. Maybe one of the carb gurus on the jetting forum will know off the top of his head.

Yeah, I sprayed some carb cleaner in there and a little bit of gunk came out. I really couldn't tell if the carb cleaner came out anywhere else. I realized I shouldv'e posted this in the jetting forum, I'll repost in there. Thanks.

I am glad I saw your post. I saw the same thing and posted pictures in the W250 FORUM. I now know it is a factory problem. I thought it looked like a tap broke through - it lines up w/ the screw on the opposite side.

Cheers,

Shawn
