Magazines Get Paid? Nahhhhhhh !

You guys know I am a Yamaha homer but I had to laugh (and ponder a few things) when I logged into the Yamaha website this morning. Look at what magazine they are quoting....on their website! Yes "Virginia" this is the "good ole boy" club. The motorcycle world is not removed from the politics and "payola" of the business world. We should all know that by now.

That was a bold statement by MXA. Count the manufacturer ads in the issue.

1 Yamaha.

1 Husquavarna.

Thats a pretty expensive ad to payoff one of the oldest and most respected mx mags out there. Maybe its just a good bike. I think that Dirt Rider should fire that moron who gave the YZ a 79 out of 100. The guy races a Honda. Allowing personal bias should not be allowed.

getting paid doesn't have to show up in the form of advertising.....more likely in the form of a check.

Like I said...we should not be so naive to think this is any different than any other business.

Unfortunatley, this happens way more than people think. I know my sponsors use my quotes in mags and advertisements, and I am in return getting deals on products. This happens at all levels of "Sponsorship."

So when Ford wins the Motor Trend truck of the year award and boasts about it through their commercials, it's thought of as payoffs....??

If I were selling a product and a major magazine paid me a huge compliment (through words in a magazine, not words on a check) I'd make sure EVERYONE I could find knew what they said and who it was that said it. I think it's just smart advertising....not everyone reads MXA.....

Since I own a 2005 F150 I can tell you....if it won truck of the year then SOMEONE got paid! LOL

That's funny!! and I don't even have a '05 Ford
