2002 WR426 Versus 2001 WR426?

5 posts in this topic

Were there a lot of upgrades between these years? I need a 2nd bike and previously had a 2001.

There is a very low mileage 2002 near me for $3K which is a little steep. Is it worth it to go look or should I just get an XR650R as a 2nd bike like I've planned?

Hey, thanks for the link. I remembered the bigger rear disk but didn't know about the other upgrades. Most seem minor.

The big issue is that here in Colorado, bikes go for a pretty decent chunk of change even used. $2500 is XR250 territory. I looked at a 2001 XR650R with some decent use and they want $3K for that so a 20002 WR426 with 30 hours on it doesn't seem that far out of line.

I assume this bike needs all the carb work that the 2001's did?

I think the carbs are unchanged. And as far as resale value in CO, it can't be any worse than "green sticker Cali" where the 03 electric start 450 is not worth any more than a 01/02 426 kicker, maybe even less in the future. Right now I am looking for a cherry 01/02 yz/wr 250F or 426 in the Bay area for my youngest son.
