I use a 51 tooth rear and switch from a 14 front to a 13 when riding really tight trails. Works for me. ?

I also run 13/51. It's VERY peppy!!! Have to be a little careful as the front wheel comes up very easy in first and second.

I got a WR450 and running a 52 on rear and left the front stock. I don't think a 13-tooth primary will last long. I also have an auto clutch with lets you run a taller gear. I'm in second gear in the real tight stuff. Perfect. This mod was recommended in Trail Rider Magazine.

I am 210 lbs fully suited to ride and I am running a 14/51 on a 01 wr426. It seem to be really a good combo for desert as well as tight woods riding, hills climbs etc. Bike has good low end as well as top end and does not bog on hills.

I run a 53 rear and 14 front.This is the best change i have made to my wr 450 for climbing steep hills and it,s a blast on the trails and tight stuff.

Running 14-50 on my 03 WR450. I think its great. Standard here was 15-50 but heaps better now. I am in New Zealand. Cheers ?

I run a 51 and I don't need to really shift all that much. It works real well on tight trails.

I found that off road high speed sections I could pull about the same speed 4th or 5th. (Rev limit vs Bog) I changed to a 52 and then I could get up to speed in 5th faster.

(You know, that one 1/8 mile section of straight in the whole hare scramble ... You've gotta optimize for that. : )
