Finally bit the bullet (new thumper)

16 posts in this topic

Well I have been on the fence for awhile between this, a 640 adventure and a wr450F and I ended up with an 06' xr650r, obviously bonestock for now, plans are to uncork it, slap on a bigger tank and plate it (silly easy here) and call it a day. Fit and finish is pretty impressive, always liked hondas. Let me know if the pic does not work.

That's a nice looking 650L ya got there, I had one for about a month before it got stolen, if we could not easily DS bikes here I likely would have gotten another.

That's no XRL, that's an XRR without a doubt. Good choice IMHO. There are a few tricks/fixes/weak spots. Check these out;

Good luck with the new bike. Get her uncorked and rejetted ASAP, along with the HRC tip or drilled out exhaust , you won't believe the difference. Let us know if you have questions.

I was talking to the poster above me, the 650L in his sig, not about the 650R in the thread I started, I know my bike is an XRR :thumbsup:

Thanks again, gonna tear into uncorking it today provided any of the honda dealers have the parts.

Bravo. Nice bike! Did you get a deal? Is there a promo on 650R's?

I did ok, not stellar, about a hundred bucks over MSRP OTD with tax. The local dealer was about 500 higher.

Exhaust tip is drilled, needle went to 3rd clip instead of 4th due to my elevation (6200 feet) and I went with a 168 main, might even still be too rich for this altitude, we'll see.
