Advantages? Hinson Clutch and Basket in 2000 YZ426?

I picked up a 2000 YZ 426f and it has a complete Hinson clutch and clutch basket in it. I was just wondering if anybody could tell me what advantages I may see with it. Maybe there is a difference in weight, or it fixed some known problem, or maybe it helps keep the bike from stalling or something?

Because the inner hub and basket are hardened and anodized, they don't get notched up easily like the stock one do. The plates slide easier and clutch action is very smooth. The oiling properties ( oil holes) are better so it doesn't fade as easily if you ride it abusively with the clutch.

The 2000 426 had a "grabby clutch problem which was fixed on 2001 and could be upgraded by sustituting a few minor 2001 parts. Prior to the parts change, the Hinson was the best fix. Hinson does have the advantages mentioned in earlier post but unless you ride with two stoke clutch techneque, wearing hub notches that matter is a rare problem.

A complete Hinson in a YZF may well be the best motorcycle clutch you ever have. I find it functions with incredible smoothness in all circumstances, and doesn't really seem to care how hot it gets or how much I abuse it. That may not be worth $800, but then again, maybe it is.

With the harder basket, you'll also see less aluminum in your oil filter.

Is Barnett or Tusk a good option to stock Yamaha, GYRT parts? why or why not.

What do you mean about riding with two stroke clutch techneque? What is the difference? :thumbsup:

The two stroke technique of fanning the clutch to maximum the time spent in the max power RPM range is generally used less with four stroke power in order to utilize the traction advantage of a power stroke every other revolution.

I haven't tried any of the aftyermarket stuff in a long time. OEM works good in the 250F, and the GYT-R plate kit is Hinson stuff at a lower price. And the Hinson has been as near perfect as I can imagine a clutch being for as long as I've had my 450.

i would think that the hinson is also stronger than stock. at least i would hope so, seeing as how i blew my stock basket up last year. cracked it in half and broke like 6 fingers off of it. maybe one of these days i will get pictures of what is left of it.

i have a tusk clutch plate kit in my '00 yzf and it works great. i have 3 rides on it(3 weekends, 2 at ocotillo and 1 at glamis) and it is still working great. a lot less than stock too.
