Good Handguards?

What do you guys think of the Cycra Pro Bend Handguards. Had any problems mounting them to the 05 WR450, Triple Clamp Mount that is. Have any pics of your bike with them on?

Hi,

Me and my little bro have those ones you can get from Yamaha dealer. :applause:

Had some Acerbis ones, but those seems to brake really easy.

They seem expensive to me but they look trick!

I run barkbuster ego handguards, not as flash as the cycra's but they are bullet proof. :applause:

I've heard lots of good about the Cycra Probend, but a little not so good too.

The GYT-R mounts got good reviews in the fitment category, but they're fairly expensive

Plus add shields to the GYT-R ones.

I've got the Renthal Twinwalls and I'm leaning toward the Cycra Probend triple clamp mount. Anyone know anything about the CR high bend Twinwalls and the space available for mounting controls? They seem a bit narrow for the throttle, brake and start button, plus the light switch will need a larger mount to fit the 1 1/8 bar.

The Acerbis Rally Guards work very well for me on an 03' WR.Never put them into an actual tree but they've seen the ground a few times probably saving my cut back levers. You may want to think about models that allow for "add on "deflectors if your around serious mud.

the gytr guards are made by cycra, for yamaha. and probably NO different than the regular cycras.

I have the Cycra pro bends w/ tripple mounts. They are awsome.

Also if you run 28" bars try the Mini Moose aluminum handguards. They fit just awsome on cut down bars. They wre for kids bikes but fit on cut down bars great. I have a set on my yz400 and they work sweet. Fit was perfect.

cycra or moose

I have the Cycra pro bend on my 2005 WR450F and I have been very pleased with the performance, I have had many get offs that would have pretzeled the Acerbis. I had some fitment problems, this is what I did:

Right side modifications (Triple clamp mount interferes with the brake line):

Brake line interference

1. Slightly loosen the brake line at the master cylinder connection and rotate it down (be sure not to let any air in!).

2. Move the starter button to the steering stem side of the brake reservoir.

3. Loosen the master cylinder clamp and slide the assembly toward the bar end until you get the lightest interference while keeping the lever in the correct position.

Left side modifications (Triple clamp mount interferes with the brake line stay):

Brake stay move

1. Remove the brake stay.

2. Mount it to the inside of the bracket.

3. Pass the bolt through the stay with the head of the bolt toward the steering stem.

One more thing, you will have to find longer triple clamp bolts as they are not provided in the Cycra racer pack.

I have the optional low profile YZ-blue hand shields installed, here are some pics:

Cycra left

I have the Pr-Bends on my 02. They are the triple clamp mount. I had to re-route my front brake hose though. No biggie, just a quick zip with a die-grinder took care of it.

Snakesausage,

What bars are you using with that setup?

I am using the stock Renthals.
