trading my yz426f for an Suzuki RM-Z 250?

i've got an offer to trade my 2002 yz426f for an 2004 Suzuki RM-Z250 ...

i think the less weight would do me (almost 6 ft and 150 pounds) good on the tight enduro trails, but i would definetly miss the power of the 426 ...

how are the Suzuki' s mechanically? :applause:

Overall, Suzuki 's are a very good machine. A few of the early rmz250's had a little bit of valve probs, but everyone that I actually know that own them, seem to really like them. I personally, had great luck with Suzuki, but had probs with my nearest dealerships, so I switched brands.

From what I have gathered they are require a little bit more maintenance... Manual cam chain tentioner. Sweet looking bike but like jonesy said... guys that have them love the...

Read up on the posts in the RM-Z forum...I think you'll see that the zook's are quite a bit more maintenance intensive. A great friend of mine has one for his daughter (Stezlaki) and will probably never let anyone he knows get one because they seem to be lacking in the quality control business. Their motor design and machining isn't even close to the dependability and durability Yamaha has. If I were you, even if it costs me more money, I'd get the YZF....after all, why is this guy willing to trade a one year (almost two) old bike for approx $2000 (value of your 426)? He most likely wants to get rid of it for some reason, and I'll bet it's not the original parts in the motor.

On the good side of things, the handling of the zooks are pretty impressive.

The 250 has an automatic tensioner.

the prices are a bit different over here (sweden) i guess, because a 426 in good condition has the same value as an "used" RM-Z 250 ...

We have many updates for the lower end, but the top end is what we specialize in. The valve train is the weakest link. The stock cams are soft and the edges don’t have enough champher."
