Tank for the XR6

6 posts in this topic

I have several tank options for my XR6. I ride mostly single track in the mountains with some longer rides on fire roads ranging up to 150 miles. Which tank would you choose?

IMS 4.0

IMS 4.9

CLARKE 5.0

Other?

If you have an (other) suggestion let me know and where I can get one.

It has turned cold here in Northern Utah, so it is time to freshon up the bike for next year or trips to Southern Utah.

At 150 miles, I'd rule out the 4.0

4.9 or 5.0 would be my choice.

Brand is up to you.

I have an IMS on my XR6 (only a 4.0)

How does the 4 look on your bike? I have been a bit worried about the 5 looking huge. Should I bee concerned at all?

I bought my bike with the 4.0 on it. It looks very similar to the factory tank.

Actually, when I bought it, I thought it WAS the factory tank.

i also have a 4.0 tank and put it on for sizing reasons and it looks to be very close to being comfortable not to wide or big and i think 150 miles on this tank would be a problem assuming you are geared for good fuel milage on the fire roads with a 15-45 on mine i could go almost 100 miles on the stock gas tank ,i am jetted lean to begin with
