It feels about 26-50 cc's less. :banghead: No, I am just kidding. I don't think it feels that much less than the 426 but I would say way different from the 450. The 450 feels much more powerfull than both, in my opinion.

don't quote me but someone had posted the info here before and it went something like 400F -44hp 426F -46hp 450F -48hp

Another reason the 450 feels so much faster is because it has a 4 speed tranny. 400 and 426 are 5 speeds.

How does the power of a 1998 yz400f compare to the bigger bikes "426,450"

The 400 is a great motor but doesn't have the low end of a 426. Because of that, it almost feels stronger up top. Smooth but rev-happy motor, whereas the 426 has more low end, a mid-low end "hit," and a good top.

I don't really have enough seat time on a YZ450 to have an opinion on that....

Huh, my 400s a 4 speed!

No way man I have same bike as yours and is a 5 speed, I never saw before a 400 with 4 gears 400 and 426 are all 5 speed, unless is not stock but yours is stock, or is not?
