Oil smoke from crank case vent

2 posts in this topic

I am getting a lot of smoke from the vent,I moved the vent under the tank and put a filter on the end of the hose along time ago and have not had any smoke until now.

Is it time for a new piston and rings?

Unfortunately, yes.

Same thing happened to my bike last year. I honed the cylinder and put in new rings but it was just a temporary fix. The ring gap was was barely within specs. A few months later I replaced the piston and cylinder. I didn't realize how down on power it was before I replaced the parts but after that it ran like a new bike.
