Louisiana WR owners ?

11 posts in this topic

I'm in California, just scored an '04 WR and have a problem with the red sticker program. Before I rush down to CA DMV and reister my bad boy, I could use some input from Louisiana WR owners. I have a brother that lives in Slidell, and I'm thinking about registering the bike to his addy. Then applying for a CA non resident use permit-which allows riding year round in CA. F'N eco-nazi's :banghead:

Does LA require OHV permit's? If so, what are the fee's annually/bi-annually?

I'm hoping to circumvent this whole B/S of CA telling me what months out of the year I can ride. :applause::lol:

My '04 YFZ was a green sticker, so I'm having a little trouble trying to understand why my '04 WR is a red.

Thanks,

I'm not aware of any special registration that may be required to ride offroad here in our state.

I looked into the requirements just last week after seeing a used WR at a motorcycle dealership here in Baton Rouge with the same sort of DMV, or Wildlife and Fisheries reflective sticker you see on 4 wheelers. It was not plated for on-road use though.

On Friday armed with all of my YZ paperwork, I went to Wildlife and Fisheries to try and get this sticker so I'd be legal to ride trails in Wildlife Management Areas. The lady that runs this program kept trying to give me a handicapped use permit application form- Not what I needed.

Next Stop, the DMV. I'll keep you posted.

As far as plating goes here in LA for a WR or a YZ, I believe the DMV is pretty lax. I've seen on trails some plated KTM's, KDX's, and definately some suspicious choppers on the road.

Does anyone else know what we'd need or a good website suggestion to be legal on the road here in Lousiana.

Great, thanks for the info.

Keep me posted on how you make out. I'm not really interested in plating right now, although it would be nice to know. I just want to be able to ride year round here in CA, and if I can work the stystem to "git er done" well that works for me. A freind of mine owns a Yamaha Shop, and he told me that as long as the bike is registered in some state, you can get the CA non resident tag-and they can't legally stop you from riding year round. :banghead:

Anyone else?

That sucks. I never knew CA had regulations on when you can ride.

Oh yeah, you would be astounded at the legal B/S we have to deal with here on the left coast. Go HERE

to see the crap we have to put up with. You will see why, my goal is so important.

Scan down, there's a list of where you can ride and what part of the year is restricted. :banghead:

I'd also like some info on how to plate a WR in Louisiana. I'm consider a WR450 or XR650R and want to swap back and forth between dirt and SuperMoto set-ups (for street riding).

What is this crap about a permit to transport to and from the race track? Does that mean you have to PAY EXTRA MONEY TO THOSE COMMIE BASTARDS to put your bike on a trailer, WHICH YOU ALREADY PAY TO HAVE PLATED? :censored:ing California can :censored:ing :applause: my :ride::p! What good is year round weather when you can't :censored:ing ride when you :censored:ing want to? :p the :censored:ing :censored:ers.

You are right on with that. :applause: They only want the criminals to run around with "unregistered" automatic firearms. :p

Last year I flew into LAX and had to drive to Riverside. On the drive there I saw 4-wheelers and bikes in every third truck I passed. I was amazed at the race shops and the amount of off-road enthu. that are in the area.

Why in the world can't yall get together and lobby against this crazy legislation that goes on there.

I am glad that Texas has managed to keep most of its liberal socialist democrats in Austin
