smoke?

ok, heres the deal.

i never had a smokey exhaust before........i repacked it and it smokes a little.....i have it wide open, then drop it to about 3000 rpm then rev it up and it shoots out a big cloud of smoke........ive got like 300 miles on since new packing......any one know what causes it? yoshimura exhaust system

Exausts don't cause smoke. Jetting or oil are the best bets. Any other changes when you repacked the exh? Valve work maybe?

you put in an oily airfilter?

you need to adjust the valves?

you have blowby?

bad gas?

lots of reasons for smoke. its not related to you re-packing...most likely...i guess some weird thing like there is a bad batch of batting but i dont think its the new fiberglass..

or the street legal piston return spring mandated in the USA.

Have you done the external combustion mod? I've heard it can cause excess smoke...

Did you oil the muffler packing instead of the air filter? it's a common problem.

Are you sure the smoke isn't from your spandex pants getting too close to the muffler?

True. Additionally, I think it's because someone resurrected their own ancient thread involving an argument about "gay" 650L exhaust with wr450fyamaha, who hasn't even posted on TT since Feb '08.
