02 YZ426 rake vs wr

5 posts in this topic

I recently bought an 02 yz426. I probably should have bought a wr because I mainly do trail and woods riding.

My question is, is there a difference in rake between the yz and wr?

Someone at a dealer told me the mx bikes had more of a rake and were desinged for berms. In fields and trails they tend to wash out the front end more.

The reason I ask is I am considering selling my yz and buying a wr but if it is basically the same and I can just tune my suspension and drop a tooth on the sprocket it isn't worth the hastle.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

So if there is no berm, the YZ will tip over??

Adjust the way your bike rides http://www.off-road.com/dirtbike/columns/mx/2002_11_04.html

The 426s work great in the woods as long as you can dodge the blurry images of trees as they pass by

Don't sell the YZ. Whoever told you the rake was different didn't know what the hell they were talking about. The YZ can be made into a killer trail/woods bike and will be a lot lighter than the WR. Dial in your suspenders, gearing and add a little flywheel weight and your ready to roll with a sweet setup. If you want a really bad ass woods bike, install a Rekluse auto clutch! :banghead:
