Jawbone Canyon to Tahachapi

Any of yo So.Cal. desert riders know if there are any good trails or rough roads going from Jawbone to Tahachapi? I'm thinking of riding over the ridgetops through Barren Ridge etc. I want to stay out of the major whoops that this area has, perhaps there's some secret single track this area. My buddies and me will try to do it this weekend, camping at Jawbone heading to Tahachapi for gas, then return to camp. Any insight on these trails would be appreciated.

I think Damon Powell of Team Dual Dogs has done this on one of his rides. I don't know any particulars about the trails.

I'm jealous just thinking about it.

Brian

I don't know if there is a trail that way but riding from Jawbone to the east to Kramer Jct. (58 and 395) is a good ride. Gas and an Astro burger at the Junction!!

We'll be East of CA city this weekend

Glenn, I ride the Barron ridge at least 3 times a month. I have ridden to Tahachapi from there. I usually start from Mojave and end up in Jawbone Canyon. That whole area is great. Let me go over some maps so I can get my story staight, you'll need to stay away from the Dept. of the interior! I'll send some tips to you. Dan

THANKS FOR THE REPLIES GENTS.

PYROTED, I'VE RIDDEN TO OR THROUGH KRAMER JUNCTION FROM MY HOME IN APPLE VALLEY. IT'S A 2.5 HOUR RIDE, THE HARD WAY (read fun way).I'VE RIDDEN TO RANDSBERG ROUND TRIP FROM MY HOUSE ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS AS WELL. IT'S ABOUT A 160 MILE RIDE.

DAN,

I APPRECIATE YOUR HELP. ALTHOUGH I KNOW THIS GENERAL AREA, I THOUGHT THE RIDE I HAVE PLANNED WOULD BE MUCH BETTER THAN THE WHOOPED OU CRAP THAT MOST OF THE LEGAL TRAILS HAVE TO OFFER.I HAVE MAPS BUT GETTING THE SCOOP FROM SOMEONE THAT RIDES THIS AREA MAKES LIFE EASIER. I'LL LOOK FOR MORE INFO FROM YOU.

IF YOU GUYS EVER WANT TO SEE THE SECRET RIDING TRAILS AROUND MY HIGH DESERT AREA

LET ME KNOW, YOU'RE ALL INVITED. YOU'LL NEED A LICENSE PLATE ON YOUR BIKE THOUGH.

GLENN

I'm that Brian. I was wondering if you would catch it.

Not sure about May 18th but we'll definitely try. I've always wanted to ride the Cerro Gordo area after seeing an article about the Toyota Land Cruiser Assoc Thanksgiving run.

Brian

Glenn,

Keep us posted on the eastern sierra trips - I'm definitely interested. My wife might even let you borrow her Moose XCR Jacket :)
