650 L Won't Shift!!!!

4 posts in this topic

My 650 L will not shift up or down gears. The shifter moves it's full range of motion. I can take off in 1st and it may take 7-8 times to get it to shift into second. Same for every gear. Seems to downshift a LITTLE better.

&%$#@!?

Shift fork?

Sounds like the mechanism that goes from the shift shaft to the shift drum is out of whack.

Has it taken a hit (up, down, in) on the shift shaft?

Or (and here are the more hopeful things to check)

-is the shifter hitting the side case of the engine?

-is the shifter loose on the shift shaft?

-did you just change to MX boots?

No new boots. No hitting case. Not loose.
