Should TT consider a forum change?

I am finding that the XR 600/650 forum is really a forum for the 650. The 600 guys and gals just get to listen in. Should the forum split?

its a forum for the XR600 as well as the 650L and the XR650R. So there are 3 bikes, not two--each with its own and distinct group of riders.

the issue was brought up a couple times and TT owners have said no-its all going to be one forum.

No, the forum is fine.

I guess it's fine if you have a 650. To many people dissin on the 600. I just have to filter through so much info to find anything on the 600. For every 25-50 threads for the 650 there is 1 for the 600.

Breaking it off isn't going to help, IMO. The search function will still work the same. Problem is, there are not as many people out there with the 600's as there are the newer 650's. Not on here anyway.

TimBrp Do you have suggestions on other forums where I can get some more 600 info. I wouldn't consider going to another pig for many many years therefore I want info on the 600.

Even though there are fewer 600 owners still out there many of us used to be 600 owners so asking questions about your problem or mod will likely still get responses. Enjoy the 600 :D

I don't know how much "dissin" on the XR600 is going on except for people acknowledging that it's getting to be a pretty old design. Mine was great too, but that was then and this is now. My 1984 XR500 before that was an other excellent bike, but it isn't made anymore either. In fact, you have to go to the vintage forum now in it's case. Yet a 1985 XR600 belongs in this forum?

I guess there is a never a perfect forum structure.

I'm not saying its never happended--but i dont remeber anyone dissin the bike.

For sure its not the norm on here.

As for wadding thru all the posts--its the same for us 650R guys. The number of posts for the L and a few for the 600 all get in the way.

Add in the repeat/newbie posts "best dual sport tire" or "cheapest place for parts" and its getting rarer and rarer to find a post that is really of any new interest....

The forums fine, besides it's more fun with the L and R riders debating back and forth. Alot of 650R riders have had 600Rs XLs NXs 650Ls way back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, just kidding.

I know what you are talking about. I find that in the YZ 400/426/450 room there is more about the 426 and 450. I don't have any problems with the 400 but like to stumble across tips, reports and what not in there but like you said it is hard. I don't know if a forum on their own would help any but it is a good idea.

I still have/use mostly a 600 and still like it here . Cheese , no thank you , I dont have anything to go with it .

Not thin skinned at all, just thought I would throw it out there for the other 600 riders. :D I will keep on read'n the threads but have already joined another forum to keep up the latest chatter on the 600.

Sometimes we get a little off track :D but usually a question will get a bunch of constructive replies before the derail. Since the XR600R shares many parts with the XR650L, we need you guys around to prove the L really is dirtworthy to the R guys :D

Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry few of the XR650R riders that are older then 40 (not many are much younger then that) did not have a XR500, XL600 or XR600R's. I have had two 500's a XL600 (It was punched to a 628cc with cam & a few extras) and two XR600R's (one punched out to a 628cc with a cam and all the extras). They ride different then the XR650R but, a nice bike for the time. XR600R "Feels" heavier but, is not heavier then the XR650R. The XR600R comes with the same Horsepower as the XR650L, maybe a tad more. But, like it was said, about the WR400/426/450 forum the newer bikes get all the talk. It won't be long and the XR650R will be old news. There is more talk about the XL650L lately then the XR650R by far on this group.
