xr650l super motard wheel and tires?

Hi, im really gettin into this new thing and I was wondering if anyone knows of any company that has a wheel and tire combo or just wheels that will fit the 650L's and still be able to retain the front speedometer? Im sure theres a few of you out there who have done this copnversion, I think they were 650R's but any info would be cool!! Thanks!

I to am looking for a set of complete wheels for my 650r but i want disks an all because i like riding in both worlds but promist my wife only one bike. this way in minutes i go from all dirt to all street? i haven't yet found a complete lace ready to ride set

Thanks everyone! Like BigRed, I am looking for a new set of wheels so if I want to ride some trails, I can just through on the stockers and when you get back to the road riding, put the new ones on. I wonder if dennis kirk has something like a package or atleast new wheels to fit? By the way, what size to most of those types of bikes run? I looked at the Suzuki SM400 at the dealer and it looks like a cool bike with the 17 or 18" tires front and rear, I wanted to check out the KTM SM's but they didnt have any. Did anyone else see a pic of a xr650r on here with supermotar wheels/tires and different plastics? Kinda looked like it had on crf plastics. Thanks again!

I was wondering if anyone has laced a set of 17 inch rims to the stock xr650l hubs so they would bolt up stock and be cheap to buy. Just put on some nice street tires and be ready to run. If so what how does it work and what size rims and tires would be best. I would really like to give it a try. Thanks for you response.

Supermoto wheels are nice, but I don't feel that they're necessary for street riding. I've had IRC GP-110 tires on my XR650L for the past two years and feel that they get good enough traction on twisty roads. I get the same lean angles in the hills that I was getting on my Ducatis that I had been riding for the previous 10+ years.

I like the GP-110 tires so much that I'm getting another set this weekend. I picked up a set of spare wheels from someone else who switched to supermoto wheels and have just installed TCK80's on those for dirt riding.

Unless you plan to go for some serious lean angles on the bike, it is possible to make it work on the street with the stock rims.

agreed. I love the look of the 17" wheels, but for street riding (not talking you racers) you would be AMAZED how nice the stock wheels with street tires are. Gear it up too and it's a whole nuther bike. So smooth you can't believe it.

Have two sets of 17"s and if not for the "look", I'd be perfectly happy with the sportsmans setup (18/21)

Thanks for the information. I like the looks of the supermoto wheels to but I really would like to smooth-en out the vibration and give it some better handling with some good street tires.

Thanks for the tips. I really do like the looks of the 17 inch wheels to but cheap is good. I will need to check into a set od the IRC tires. One of my main concerns was to have better road handling and less vibration through a road tire since the bike has only been off road one time. Thanks again for your responce.

NOT cheap to buy, even if you do it yourself.

Excel 17" Rim is $250+ for rear, $175 or so for front. Plus spokes ($100+).

I just had a new front built for my CR front end. My hub and a nicer than Excel, Sun rim from Buchanon with their spokes and with lacing/truing and shipping it was more than $500. (with no hub)

Ain't cheap goin motard. :thumbsup:

That is a nice looking set of wheels/tires.

I've scratched my cases and plastic up tooling around in the lava rocks and pumice, The days of my XRL looking that good are about 2200 miles behind me...

Well I got 8000 miles of Everglades riding on mine before I moved back to NJ and did the conversion.:thumbsup:
