exhaust problems

Im having difficulty finding an exhaust to fit an 1988 xr 600 most manafactures specify years 85-87 , 91-04 which misses out 1988 so is there anybody out there with an 1988 bike with an aftermarket exhaust system on there bike and if so what type is it.

FMF makes the MegaMax in 1.5,1.75 and 2.0 universal sizes.

ya know after market exhaust is really over rated. unless of course you crashed and messed up the old one, i ve heard that happens sometimes:)

You can always replace the header pipes out to the two into one version used on all of those other years and connect any after market pipe right up to it. It is a direct bolt up to your 88.

Staintune (from Australia) make a very good muffler that will fit straight on the original stainless headers on the 88-90 XR6's. It is a full stainless steel construction, has a removable restrictor and gives about a 10% power boost. I have used 2 of these mufflers on my bikes and recommend them.
