will a 120/100 fit on the stock 18 inch rear wheel?

Im picking up some of the Kenda Trakmaster II next week and I was sondering if anybody has fit the 120/100's on a WR. I've seen the 110/100's on the bike but the tire looks too small. Also, are there any other recommendations for D.O.T. approved tires?

120's fit great! With the exception of the Tera Flex I currently have mounted (140) I always run a 120 on my WR. :)

Yes, but it will be taller, so your gearing will change. The first number is width in mm, the second number is the aspect ratio in percentage. In this case, its 100% of the width. Original WR is 110/100, so its 110mm wide, and 110mm sidewall or 100% of the width. So your new tire will fit and it will be taller. Technically, if you wanted the tire to be about the same heigth with a 120mm width, you'd use a 120/90-18. But tire makers sizes vary. I had an IRC 130/80-18 on my 426, plenty of room to grow!

Ditto 140/80-18 TeraFlex is as large as you can go!

I just put Dunlop D606 DOT tires on my 05 WR450. 90/90 on the front and 130/90 on the back. The back tire fit fine on the stock 2.15 rim despite Dunlop's recommendation for a 3.00 rim. I took it out last weekend and am pleased with the tires for non agressive trails (riding with the kids). I think they will be fine for my purposes of 20% street and 80% trails.
