Will XR650 tank/seat fit the XR600s ?

I just bought a 97 xr600 with a dual-purpose kit ( haven't even got it yet)...and I am just doing my homework on making it trick. :) Thanks, mitch

The 650L gas tank mounts differently than the XR 600R. I know they look the same but the 600R has two mounting wings that bolt to bosses ont the down tube. The 650L tank sits on rubber bumpers attached at the backbone. The petcock is also different on the two. The 600R has a two bolt attaching system like most dirt bikes. The 650L has a threaded bung that the petcock screws on. :) The rear mount on the 600R is a rubber strap where the 650L has a bolt to hold it secure. :)

Dude I bought a genuine complete XR650L seat

I have a genuine 2000 model XR600R (now 628)

The XR650L seat bolted straight on.

The only missing part is that the from metal sleeve on the 600R seat is omitted - the seat doesn't move anyway.

What the hell has the petcock got to do with the seat ?

(sorry for being agressive but I have bolted on a 650L seat so it does work)

True520-The XR650R seat/tank combo definitely won't work on an XR6. It is a completely different design made for a completely different bike.

RMHRC630- What other mods have you made to your bike other than a hrc 630 piston?

The original question was seat/tank the seat will work the tank will not. BTW that seat looks good on your bike.

I found out that ALOOP makes a real good looking seat/tank combo for the XR-600s now...Man that thing looks sharp too...wish it was 200 cheaper though...My buddy has a 2000 XR-650-R and I think his bike looks alot "newer" or "later model" than mine..Thanks for the advice too, Mitch :)

XR650L seat on XR600R with IMS XR600R tank

Eeeeeeezy Crocidile Dundee. :) The seats are the same and I like your bike but the gas tanks are different. The 650L attaches differently and is metal. For your information I did put an XR 600R gas tank on my bike to remove a little weight from a locking metal gas cap and metal tank but it was a royal pain in the arse and not worth the effort considering there are new IMS and Clarke tanks that are model specific that don't require fabbing brackets and wasting time like I did. I did not know when I attempted it and I hoped I could spare someone else the misery. Feel the love :)

sorry about that four stoked

I just thought that why would anyone put a steel tank on their 600?

It doenst make sense
