WR400 crank options?

I just disassembled my motor to trace my 100psi compression and this awful clacking noise I Was getting. turns out the big end bearing and/or the big end on the crank is worn

Are there any aftermarket options for the 99 WR400 for a complete crank? I know with smokers most times a new preformance crank is cheaper than a rebuilt OEM one.

I'm just wondering, how many hours are on your bike? I don't know of any aftermarket cranks, just the OEM unit. You could try asking White Brothers if they know of one.

No way to tell.. previous owner did the top end over, looks like even maybe new valves. He just skipped over the crank it seems.

I've been looking for an after market rod and or crank for my YZ400f but haven't been able to find one so I'm looking for someone to discount an OEM crank assembly. I have a WR400 crank with a bad rod if you're interested.

TT sells OE parts at a good discount. I got my YZ ex cam for $97 and the dealer wanted $160!! :)

I've had two WR400 cranks rebuilt (to 426 specs - bigger small end) by http://www.eric-gorr.com/

I've had no issues whatsoever with the rebuilt cranks. He replaces the rod (I think he uses a Hot Rod Connecting rod), and big end bearing for approximately $150 (includes labor).

I ended up buying a new crank for 278$, bearings for 62$ and whatever the gasket kit is going to run me. Im figuring on doing the labor myself. I rebuilt my YZ125 top and lower end this winter so I know its not as bad as it looks.

when you buy a rod kit, you also get the crank pin with it.

You will need to pay someone to install the rod onto the crank. It's not doable without specialist tools.

Also, doing the bottom end on a bike is a far cry from doing the top end on a 2T. Just get a digital camera and take pics of stuff BEFORE you pull it apart. Get some cable ties, and when you remove a shaft or something similar, cable tie all the gears, washers etc back onto the shaft in the order they came off, makes reassembly easy. Good luck :)
