new 2005 wr450 info

10 posts in this topic

hey, i've been reading this forum for a few weeks before i bought my 2005 WR450F. so i've done the free power mods, which was easy. what i'm really wanting to know is how often do they need an oil change? and is fully synthetic oil the way to go for enduro riding? i've always had 2 smoker dirt bikes so the 4 stroke is something new to me. any info will be much appreciated :)

I changed mine after 230 miles and the oil looked pretty dirty, and it was slipping into neutral easily. after I changed it the transmission was alot smoother. So less than 230 for sure.

I change my oil and filter after 10 minutes.

I use Silkolene full synthetic in all my bikes.

I notice they shift much better with good oil.

Change the oil about every 3 tanks of gas. I am running the YamaLube semi- synthetic 4R with the gold cap. Good Stuff!!!
