First my rant:

Why do people here call the XR650L the "PIG"?!?! it is maybe the best motorcycle of it's type, the first really light and really offroad-worthy dual sport of its kind. Uncorked, but basically stock, mine does 0-60 in about 4 seconds. That's not piggish. I raced mine in the woods, LOVED it for woods riding. I also do HUGE jumps with it no problem. I would usually be the one up front (along with a guy on an older Honda 500cc 2-stroke...) when our riding club went out for rides in the mountains of east TN. Everyone else was on KTMs or even trials bikes... It would track really well in rocky streambeds too. It's a hill-climbing machine. This is my second XR650L and I already have 19000 miles on it. NOTHING "pig" about it. A harley davidson is a hog or pig, not this.

What is the deal? Are people making excuses for their riding timidity? You HAVE to ride these agressive -- especially in the turns. You use the engine torque to turn. If you are not on the throttle in the turns, you do not know how well an XR650L handles. I left all my street-bike buddies back about 5 minutes on the Dragon (129 by the smokies -- http://www.dealsgap.com/ ) the twistiest road in the USA. They basically scraped off their footpegs trying to keep up. It is not a pig in any way on the street either.

I call this my DREAMCYCLE!!! Best bike in the world. "PIGS" can't fly. The big XR has PLENTY of juice for jumps! Here are some pics from a few days ago of my 2005 (which I bought new in 2004):

Cleared for takeoff on 40-ft tabletop:

Right after landing -- better view of bike:

and here are a few pics of my 1994 dreamcycle:

(I bought this 1994 XR650L used in 1998 for $3150.00, rode it HARD approx. 5 years -- sold it for $1500.00).

Here is a result of it's extreme mountain-climbing ability (my friend with the CR500 2-smoke took this pic -- while we were waiting for the other 17 guys!!):

Here is me racing in an enduro in a sandy, whoop-filled, winter wonderland. LOVED the leg cramps. That's why I race them... NOT:

OMG, I just realized I am still wearing those same boots... on both bikes. LOL They are pretty worn-out... Time for new ones.

DAMN!! You know how to RIDE that sumbitch!! I don't really think of the pig as all that heavy, either. Of course, this is coming from a guy that used to ride a CB 360 (road bike..) off road at 12 years old or so (I wasn't a very big kid, either. ) so naturally a bike that is made for the off road doesn't feel like much of anything as an adult. You broke the new record (for me) as far as how high in the air I have seen a pig fly.. You were way up there! Much further would require a pilot's license and FAA clearance! :D:ride::worthy:

Here's my '86 XR600R... I love it! Coming from a DR200... well, let's just say there's plenty of power. I'm in the process of street legalizing it... just ordered a 15T sprocket amd some DOT knobbies. I have the horn and signals, I just need to install them. I have a jet kit on the way, too.
