'05 yz450f is it as bad as the review???

Theres a guy on ebay that sells ignitions boxes for them. I tried 2 before I gave up. The first never did work, and the second would work for 20 minutes or so before it overheated and started misfiring. But it really helped to wake the 450 up considerably. I had already went down to a 12T countersprocket and a PC Ti-4 and taken the airscreen out but it was still doggy felling when you pinned it. Maybe he has sorted out the problem and they are reliable now.

For a second comparison, my kid is 16 and has been riding a yz250f for 2 years now. I let him try it out this past weekend since I decided to go ahead and take it back out of mothballs and ride it for a while. His comment was, jeez this thing is slow. Even kids can tell. :naughty:

I agree. I have an 03 450 and an 05. I actually fell like the 05 has more power, maybe because now I can actually use more of it.

If you want your 05 faster try a 50 pilot and a 168 main. then got to g2ergo.com and ask sam fot the shorter pull throttel tube that he makes and then tell me this yz450 is slow! the throttel tube lets you keep your elbows up in the attack position better you dont have to twist as far to ring it out! Make sure you can ride first though a c or b rider will have trouble over shooting corners.

this thread is retarded. Yamaha does not make crap. Learn to ride and you will be happy on any bike. Its just what makes a person grin. If you guys could use all the power on a 450(any) I would be watching you on TV on sundays. Pick a color and go ride.

I second that!!! :naughty:

I own 05 YZ450F for 2 weeks. Last year was ridden on 1999 YZ400F.

If you compare 05 450F with 99 400F... 450F is damn 35 pounds lighter! :naughty: On the 400 rutted corners were like on the train, and on 450F I've got to remember how it was on 2-stroke :naughty:

And I really love my Yamaha!

Third...

The YZ 450 stays together and does not require an extra grand in valves. In my opinion, thats the answer.

ditto! I have ridden them all pick your color and ride, there is not a bad 450 just different
