'05 Yz Twin Chamber Fork Assembly, Please Read!!!!

I just replaced the fork seals on my '05 Yz450 this past weekend and after reading this thread on DR.net it appears that I also assembled my forks incorrectly. If you don't have experience with the new twin chamber KYB forks and are going to be taking your forks apart, do yourself a favor and read this thread. The manual is a little vague when it comes to assembling the locknut and damper assembly at the bottom of the forks.

If anyone has any other tips or would like to add to this PLEASE do!

Sounds like someone does not know what they are doing personally. They are a very simple design to work on. I prefer them to the older single chambers, but it does take longer with the oil levels since you have to measure the inner and then outer chambers on the ASSOS forks. They are virtually identical to the Showa Twin Chambers for maintenance.

The manual is no vague in my opinion. It tells you what oil level, what tools and how to assemble and disassemble the forks. I guess it is just experience here for me.

It was not meant to be harsh, but if you assemble things with "stripped out parts" then things will go wrong. I dont mean to sound rude, but it is reality.

The washers I am guessing from that read are to increase the preload on the forks. Works connection makes some bling bling type of parts that do the same thing.

The way I'm reading this and the quote from DR thread leads to some confusing assertions. Dude has his fork revalved by Enzo and it works fine, one assumes.

Then he does his own seal replacement and jacks ups something on reassembly. Goes to the track and the forks fail pretty quickly. The evidence would be dude put his forks together incorrectly.

He pulls them apart and then it seems he blames Enzo for something, that I'm unsure of, but it seems he's unhappy about something Enzo did. Cheap washers or something. But then dude admits to assembling his forks incorrectly and obviously that is HIS fault. Not Enzo's. Not the washers that Enzo uses.

I have no idea, actually what this thread is pointing out but the left handed slam at Enzo is interesting.

I didn't strip out my fork internals, when I reassembled my forks I just didn't tighten the locknut and damper assembly to the required 21 ft/lb. My forks are fine, thankfully I hadn't ridden it yet!
