The Perfect Dirtbike!

23 posts in this topic

I just never get tired of my 2000 Yamaha WR400F! It's an all around great dirtbike! It can keep up with anything! It's just amazing! I just took it on the road to get it up to speed! I got about a mile stretch of highway where guy with superbikes race! So I took my dirtbike and stopped at the stop sign and waited for a truck to pass then I gunned it and caught up to the guy in the truck in about 5 seconds! He was going about 65 MPH! Because that's what my speedo said. Then I turned around to go back and got up to 75 MPH at mid RPM in 5th and just held the throttle at that because of the wind! I still had some throttle left! It must go 90 MPH! I know It will do almost 70 MPH in 4th gear! :)

Hey Marcus! Where have you been? Took a little hiatus from the ol' thumpertalk, huh. Still out drag racing on the trusty WR400, aren't ya'?

By the way, what kind of truck was it? 18 wheeler or Dodge Hemi?

if you want to see the almost perfect dirtbike, click on my garage icon thing, and look at my 1999 WR420... Mine can do a 3rd gear start, without bogging.

ANd if it was a Dodge, what did he have in it? A guitar amp, some 2X4's and what else? How does your WR do agaisnt a quad, lets say a 660 Raptor?

Marcus, the WR is a great bike but I think it's your incredible ability to ride it to it's limit that puts you on top. Must be nice to have skills like that.

I may not be getting the full potential out of mine, but I remember this one time......at band camp......... :)

Thanks for the laughs, guys!

Marcus, if your bike only goes 90mph, you have to do some more mods. I want a report of a GPS reading of 100+ on the dirt! :)

Well done young Jedi, may the force be with you.

I bet you felt like Skywalker flying through the forest on one of those space bikes. :)

I know it will beat a raptor 660!

But a raptor 660 is fast!

I could change the sprocket and make it do 120 MPH!

But I ride mostly in the woods on trails.

The gearing would be too high!
