XRL 650 Tire Size

In keeping with my MO of asking the most remedial of questions, can anyone tell me what the tire dimension numbers are measuring?

Front Tire: 3.00-21

Rear Tire: 4.60-18

Are these metrics in inches or centimeters and what are they measuring?

I want to buy the Pirelli MT-21 tires but I need to make sure that I get the right tire and it doesn't look like Pirelli is using the same measurement units. On the Pirelli website, they are listing the tires with measurement like: 130/90-18, 120/80-18, etc. What tire do I want for my XR650L?

Thanks

For the rear, get the 130/90, its a lot more aggressive than the 120/80. I've used both, and the 120 looks downright skinny on the beast.

3.00-21 = 3" wide 21" rim

130/90/18 =

13 - width in mm

90 - aspect ratio (sidewall height) in this example the sidewall height is 90% of the width.

18 - rim diameter

The same numbering system applys to auto tires.

Hope it helps

P.S. 130 = 5.11 inches

what about the front? 130 or 120?

Front 90/90-21
