2005 Enduro & Cross-Country Rallies max cubic capacity set to 450cc

Yes so many guys are dying on the Dakar that they decided to back it off to 450CC. :) They will still beat all the cars and trucks in overall time! :) I think this will put David Fretigne on top and give yamaha their first ever Dakar! :p

Yamaha 's Dakar victories

1998: Stéphane Peterhansel - XTZ850TRX

1997: Stéphane Peterhansel - XTZ850TRX

1996: Edi Orioli - XTZ850R SP

1995: Stéphane Peterhansel - XTZ850

1993: Stéphane Peterhansel - XTE750T

1992: Stéphane Peterhansel - XTE750T

1991: Stéphane Peterhansel - XTE750T

1980: Cyril Neveu - XT500

1979: Cyril Neveu - XT500

Yamaha has been there done that and got the T-shirt. It will be the first year for new 450 to win.

i believe it still wont count for the dakar for few years, not being included in world rally championship as UAE, optic, pharaones, el chott..and of course cutting out current overall leaders with higher capacity bikes

but that is also my wish and predikament...go 450, go hi-tech, go endurance, go rpm's, go YAMAHA :)

This is actually awesome as the 450 development will benefit greatly from torture testing to accomodate this. There was very little comparibility between the 600+ cc bikes and the 250/450's. This helps all us stateside guys dramatically over the next few years and will likely bring more manufactures into the fold and get them competing aboard smaller bikes.

hmmm :) BMW must be pissed.

Honda is probably allready training their teams to do valve replacements in less than an hour. :)

The honda's may have to do the valves daily! and the piston and jug weekly! :)
