Countershaft Sprocket Question

3 posts in this topic

Is there a trick to lining up the sprocket AND the small outer plate which lines up the two bolts? :)

By pushing the plate all the way onto the shaft, the holes never seem to line up with the sprocket? :)

Nothing mentioned in my Clymer manual at all.

Thanks in advance, :p

If it's like the XR650R then you put it partway onto the shaft where it is grooved out and turn it slightly then the holes line up.

That is correct. The sprocket goes all the way in and the keeper goes in the groove and rotates until it lines up opposite the sprocket splines to keep the sprocket from sliding off while allowing it to remain semi floating and not solid mounted.
