Rear Chain Guides: stock vs aftermarket

1 post in this topic

My stock rear chain guide is worn out and needs replacing. The stock Honda parts are about $30 (for my '87). I checked the aftermarket companies and they all sem to sell the Fredette unit. Any issues with the stock or this aftermarket unit? It appears that the Fredette unit just has bare aluminum sides, and looking at my stocker I can see where the chain has rubbed onthe sides somewhat, however maybe the Fredette unit wider? Is this a concern or not?
