Pipe Suggestion

11 posts in this topic

Hey guys, im new to posting to the site, ive followed it for a while though just havent posted. I have a question about a good pipe for a 03yz450f. Ive heard so many mixed rumors about pipes that im not sure if i want to spend 700 bucks on one. I heard the the white brothers carbon fiber one is good. I also heard that the stock pipe is the best pipe for the bike. Any help would be great. Thanks

Brad

Don't expect huge power gains from putting a pipe on one of these. You can improve the power profile, however. With the FMF Ti4 and Power Bomb header on mine, it has an earlier, smoother delivery at the bottom, huge mid-range, and maybe one more on top. It also gets rid of the goofy little "hit" at around 8000 rpm that the stocker has.

Look for a used one if you want to save money, but it's a good pipe!

I put a Dubach slip-on(muffler only) on my '03 and was pretty happy with it. I found one on Ebay for cheap, otherwise I probably would have just stuck with stock

I am using a Dr.D. and love it. A lot of low and mid range power increase. According to the paperwork, it is noise compliant @ 96 dbl. I am not sure though. It sounds louder to me.

I really hate to say this....BUT, I'm from the South!

Man I am glad I do not live there! It is beautiful country there, but WAY Too many damn rules and too damn expensive.......noise, green stickers...red stickers......ORV areas shutdown...restriction after restriction, sierra clubs, EPA,...etc....... does it ever end?

Just out of curiosity do Harley's or custom choppers have to comply with the noise restrictions in CA? If not that is some screwed up politics.........

White Bros Aluminum Race Series Brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a Dr. D slip on as well. I think it helped with response from bottom up to mid and the pipe sounds awesome. I have heard that the Dr. D slip-on works better with the stock header than the other aftermarket slip-ons.

LOL yeah i was thinking that because im pretty sure the tracks around here are probably goin to start having sound requirements. I hope not though.

Thanks guys i might just end up looking for a used one or leaving my stock one on instead of buying a brand new one and spending some bucks.
