Some of you replace the big honking air filter with a K&N unit inside the airbox. Others drill a mess of holes in the airbox to let more air in. So the next logical question is why not toss the airbox and the intake and bolt a K&N Pod straight onto the carb body. We do that to street bikes all the time. Seriously leans out the midrange though so end up having to raise the needles a bunch. Kinda kills gas milage but darn if I'm not trying my best to convert as much stored hydrocabon energy into nice plant food (C02) and water vapor so I'm not the least bit concerned about that - I'm doing my best for the environment, see. Anyone done this? What I'm really trying to get away with is putting a nice battery where the airbox used to be.
