yfz quad tranny a close ratio 5spd.

2 posts in this topic

I have read several people stating that the YFZ quad tranny is the same as the WR's. This is incorrect! Look up the part numbers on Yamaha 's site. Furthermore, from the parts list the gearing looks to be a close ratio. The question now is will it fit in the YZF as a direct drop-in?

It even looks to have a spring dampened clutch for us pavement sliders.

That's interesting. As I understand it, the basic difference in the YFZ and WR crankcases is the location and form factor of the hard points for mounting the unit, and that they are otherwise identical. If that's true, the WR trans should freely interchange with the YFZ. Since we know that the WR drops into the YZ450, that should mean the YFZ would also fit.:cry:
